Claims scenario

From injury to recovery

A workers compensation claims scenario involving a plumber.

ABC DrainMaster employs several plumbers who work on various job sites. One day, while working on a construction site, one of the plumbers slipped on a wet surface and fell, injuring their ankle. The plumber required medical attention and is unable to work for several weeks while recovering. The injured plumber filed a workers’ compensation claim.

Luckily, ABC Drain Master worked with an insurance agent to secure comprehensive coverage including workers compensation. Works comp covers the cost of the injured plumber's medical treatment, as well as any lost wages while they were unable to work. The insurance policy would also cover any legal fees if there was a lawsuit filed.

Without workers' compensation insurance, ABC DrainMaster would be responsible for paying the injured plumber's medical bills and lost wages out of pocket, which could be a significant financial burden. Additionally, the business could face legal action if the injured plumber decides to sue for damages.
