The Victor Taxi Insurance is designed for professional and experienced taxi companies.
The passenger transport market comprises several segments:
Taxi services (Street Taxis)
(International) Bus Transport
WMO/Healthcare Transport
Public Transport
Three types of vehicles are used: passenger cars, minivans with a maximum of 8 seats, and coaches. Victor developed an insurance program for taxi services, a segment with approximately 15,000 active companies using around 17,500 passenger cars and 15,000 minivans.
The introduction of the Victor Taxi Insurance followed a lengthy development period, during which we collaborated with a single agency that shared all data on claims and premium developments with us. Finding capacity/insurers for this market segment took considerable time, as insurers are very cautious about providing capacity. Ultimately, we succeeded in contracting a foreign insurer as the risk bearer, but this came with certain conditions. For example, we only offer taxi insurance to professional and experienced taxi companies through a limited number of pre-selected, insurer-approved professional advisory firms such as Merkelbag Adviesgroep— the specialist in taxi insurance, where good advice and customer interests are central—or Taxiverzekering.nl.
A Victor Taxi Insurance policy can be purchased with either nationwide coverage for Legal Liability (WA) or an All Risks coverage (WA plus damage to the insured vehicle). Additionally, special supplementary insurances are available, such as:
A separate Passenger Damage Insurance (required for TX certification): EUR 52.50 per year, excluding costs and 21% insurance tax
A Business Liability Insurance: EUR 60 per year, excluding costs and 21% insurance tax
Besides Victor, there are a limited number of other providers of taxi insurance, including Inshur, Wakam, ASR, Zego, and De Vereende. De Vereende is an insurer for taxi companies that can no longer insure elsewhere.
Be cautious of ‘cheap’ taxi insurances often offered by insurance brokers via WhatsApp or social media. When purchasing a taxi insurance policy, pay close attention to any restrictive policy conditions, such as limitations in a ‘value package’ where taxi companies are not insured if the vehicle is used from cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, or Schiphol, or specific vehicle security requirements.
Note: Every insurer uses a questionnaire. As an applicant, you must answer these questions accurately and completely yourself. Deliberately providing incorrect or incomplete answers, or having someone else do so, can affect your right to claim compensation. Inaccuracies or omissions may also lead to policy termination or your personal data being recorded in warning registers.
The growth of our taxi insurance proposition makes it unlikely that we will offer this insurance through multiple agencies or brokers in the near future. With a market share of over 5%, our primary goal is to ensure the stable profitability of our sufficiently large but still relatively young portfolio over several years, providing continuity and security to professional and experienced taxi companies.
